The goal of this symposium is to bring leading computational and systems biologists to UGA to share their visions about future developments in post-genomic biology.

The following questions will be addressed:

  • What are the major biological questions that lie within reach using the new data and tools that have become available?
  • What are the emerging technologies that could help to further transform biology into a more quantitative science?
  • What are the major informatics and computational challenges the community will be facing?
  • How should biology education at both undergraduate and graduate levels be transformed to meet the needs of training the next generation of biologists?

The symposium will also feature talks by leading UGA scientists about their visions of the unique opportunities and challenges UGA is facing and their visions of how to expand "computational and systems biology" programs at UGA.
